The Illinois PGA Pro-Superintendent Championship took place on Thursday, May 1 at Lincolnshire Country Club in Crete, Ill. Forty-two teams made up of an Illinois PGA golf professional and the superintendent from their facility competed in 18-holes of the two (2) person teams in a scramble format.
The team from Biltmore C.C., made up of head golf professional Doug Bauman and superintendent Brian Thomson came away with low net honors after carding a sparkling 16 under-par 56. They were two strokes better than the team from Cantigny Golf made up of Rich Dukelow and superintendent Scott Witte, who finished alone in second place.
Dukelow and Witte did manage to take home first place honors in the low gross division with their score of seven-under par 65 that included an eagle on the 12th hole, seven birdies and two bogeys. Four teams tied in second place at six-under par 66.
Tournament sponsor Sicalco made two (2) $500.00 donations to the Midwest Association of Golf Course Superintendents Scholarship Fund in the names of Cantigny's Witt and Fred Behnke from Mt. Prospect G.C. who each won the closest to the hole contest on the 7th and 18th holes. |
