DUKELOW CAPTURES ILLINOIS PGA ASSISTANT'S CHAMPIONSHIP
The Illinois PGA Assistant's Championship took place on Monday, September 2 at Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, Ill. The field consisted of 92 Illinois PGA assistant golf professionals competing in 36 holes of stroke-play competition.
After the morning round was complete, Rich Dukelow, Cantigny Golf, Bill Sakas, Wilmette G.C., and Matt Slowinski, Glen Oak C.C. were tied for the lead after posting a three-under-par 69. Michael Troy, Zigfield Troy G.C., and Simon Allan, Westmoreland C.C., were two shots back heading into the final round after finishing at one-under-par 71.
In the final round, Dukelow, 39, continued his stellar play by carding an even-par 72, and by doing so, captured his first Illinois PGA Assistant's Championship title.
Dukelow's 36-hole total of 141 (-3) was three strokes better than second place finisher Sakas, who carded a final round 75. Finishing third was host assistant golf professional Simon Allan with a total of 145 (+1).
Qualifying for the 2008 TaylorMade-adidas PGA Assistant's Championship were Dukelow, Sakas, Allan, Scott Baines, Bryn Mawr C.C., Slowinski and Jason Lee, Ridgemoor C.C. The Championship is scheduled to be played October 31-November 2, 2008 at The PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla. |
